Holy Cow!!! I can't believe it has been a whole week! It is
crazy to see how time flies!! The first couple of days were really long, but
everyone just kept saying "make it to Sunday". Well that's true.
Sunday was just a great reprieve from the rigorous schedule they have us on. It
is non stop from 6:30 am until 9:30 pm. Tons of class instruction, tons of
language instruction, tons of craziness!! For the first couple of days my
teacher didn't speak any English! It was pretty tough. Now I know why the Spanish
immersion programs are so successful! It was really hard the first five days.
I didn't think I was ever going to get it. I got really down on myself. But I
kept praying for not only the gift of tongues but the gift of interpretation. And I have seen His help. I am starting to
understand a lot of what our teacher is saying and I am starting to put
together some simple sentences! The Gospel is so great!!
On Tuesday, we had a
devotional. Elder Neil L. Anderson came!! He gave a great talk about love and
sacrifice. My favorite quote was "We sacrifice for the things we love, and
we love the things that we sacrifice for". That totally rings true for the
missionaries. Another great point that was made was that we should "put the word 'I'
away for two years and focus on the word 'them'." This mission
isn't about me. This mission is about those people that the Lord is preparing
to receive the Gospel. I am just a tool in his hands that needs to be adjusted
to fit the needs of the people. Having an Apostle of the Lord in the same room
as you and having him bear his testimony of the Savior and His plan and of the
work that we are doing is an extremely powerful experience.
My District is great, we all get along really well. The three Elder's in my room are really cool. Elder Gardner is my Campanero, he is from Holiday. The other two are Elder Burgsma and Elder Pendleton. Elder Burgsma is from California but spent a year at BYUI and a year at BYU Provo. He is 20 yrs old. Elder Pendleton is from American Fork and likes to play rigby. He is really a funny guy. All the Elders in my District are 18 except for Elder Burgsma. All the Elders in my Zone are pretty cool too. One of the leaders is from Australia, wonder how his accent will translate into Spanish?
I was sick on Monday and Tuesday but feel better today. It lasted less that 24 hours. Being sick without my Mom was tough. I have never been sick without her to help me. I can't even express how much I love and appreciate all my family. You never know what you have until it is gone.
Tell Rose that I that I saw Brax and he looks well and that he is loving it! His P-day was on Tuesday so she should have got a letter by now.

I love all the letters from everyone, thank you! Every night I am so excited to see if I have mail. All the Elders in my District think I have a fan club because of everyone who is writing me. Everyday they say "Okay, how many letters does Elder Morris have today". I love hearing from everyone, thank you, so please keep it up!!
